Stay Active in Winter ~ Things to Do in West Michigan

Starting to feel the Winter Blues? It's often difficult to feel that we are getting enough exercise when we're trying to stay warm in winter. We've been getting a lot of snow in West Michigan, so I though I'd offer up a few tips to stay active and have fun this winter.
1) Go Sledding! There are many places to sled in Holland! The Van Ralte farm, Pigeon Creek Park, Waukazoo School...Bundle up and get the kids out on the sledding hill. Just remember to sled safely!
2) Go Cross-Country Skiing. Cross-Country Skiing is an excellent way to get exercise while enjoying beautiful West Michigan. Pigeon Creek Park has great trails with a warming hut for hot chocolate when you're done!
3) Wander through downtown Holland. Enjoy local shopping while taking advantage of the heated sidewalks and new outdoor fireplace (on the corner of Columbia and 8th Street).
4) Enjoy local culture. An easy Internet search will show you all the options: Indie films at local theaters, Hope College performances, Holland Chorale concerts, events at the Holland Arts Council.... We are so lucky to live in a small town that has so much to offer!
5) Try the new outdoor ice rink in Holland. You'll find it on 6th Street and Columbia. It's free, but bring your own skates!
Hopefully these ideas will inspire you to bundle up your family and head to a park or downtown Holland for some winter fun!
